Jeff Bezos buys Globalstar and controls Elon Musk's Starlink
Jeff Bezos' Amazon buys Globalstar for $11.57 billion, in a move aimed at competing with Elon Musk's Starlink. The agreement provides Amazon with access to Globalstar's 24 satellite network, strengthening the Leo network that it develops to target 3,200 satellites by 2029. The acquisition is expected to be completed next year, with Globalstar shares rising more than 9% after the announcement on April 14, 2026. Apple, which has invested $1.5 billion in Globalstar, will continue to use its satellite services for iPhone and Apple Watch.
