The tax returns are progressing rapidly, as already one in three taxpayers has completed the process.
The «X-ray» of tax declarations 2026 reveals an image of a rapid response of citizens and significant flows of money to and from the State.

Tax returns
The opportunity to obtain a 4% discount on their tax will be given to citizens who submit their tax declaration by May 15.
In addition, there are not a few people who have been in a hurry to make their statements so that they can «win» a greater discount, in the case of a one-off refund.
So far nearly 2.4 million E1 forms have been submitted, although the pre-filled declarations are also included. Of the 2.4 million E1 forms, about 76% are credit and zero, and only 24% correspond to debits.
For those who have to pay tax, the repayment can be made in eight monthly instalments, but there is also the possibility to be paid one-off at a discount of 4% if the debtor's tax declaration is finalized - after the extension given - until 15 May.
After 15 May the discount in case of a one-off payment is reduced to 3% or 2% depending on the time of submission.
Dates
The dates are as follows:
- Tax declaration by 15 May: 4% discount
- Submission of a tax declaration after 15 May and until 15 June: 3% discount
