A wave of retirements sweeps Greece in 2026, with 36,999 new applications only in the first two months (18,636 in January and 18,363 in February). In 2025 applications reached 200,000, while respectively high numbers were recorded in 2021 and 2022. Experts warn of a threat to the viability of the insurance system.
