The Municipality of Athens aspires to put an end to the problem of finding parking spaces with a new application that informs in real time about the positions released in areas of Athens.
One new free digital service In order to facilitate the daily life of drivers, the Municipality of Athens is operating.
It is about the Parkout, an application that informs in real time about the parking spaces released, seeking to limit the time spent searching parking and the unnecessary traffic on the streets of the city.
The application is addressed to areas where the control parking system is not implemented and is based on the cooperation of drivers themselves. Developed by DAEM S.A. in collaboration with ParkEasy I.C.E., without requiring the installation of additional infrastructure or sensors.
How Parkout works
According to the Municipality of Athens, drivers download the app to their mobile phone and when they are about to leave a parking space they inform through the application that this location will be released.
At the same time, those seeking an available location are immediately informed of the points that are being released near them, so that they are directed there.
Parkout is available for free for Android and iOS devices. When a user informs that he is leaving the position he is using, the other drivers can see in real time the available positions in the area where they are located and lead to them.
The operation of the Parkout application concerns the areas of the Municipality of Athens where the controlled parking system is not applied. Analyticalally: Probona, Rizoupoli, Upper Patisia, Patisia, Agios Eleftherios, Nirvana, Sepolia, Kokkinia, Platos Academy, Kolonos, Botanical, Olives, Ruff, OSE, Attica Square, America Square, Kipseli, Upper Kipseli, New Kipseli, Areos Field – Eelpidon Field, Gyzi, Polygon, Gerontiko, Ellinosian, Abelokipi, Goudi, Pagkrati, Zappeion, Stadium, Prophet Elias, 1st Cemetery, New World, Gouva, Durgouti, Upper Petralona.
Not supported in areas: Commercial Triangle – Monastiraki – Plaka, Acropolis, Makrigianni – Koukaki – Veikou – Philopapou, Museum – Exarchia – Neapolis, Kolonaki, Ilisia, Lycavittos and Kouturiotis.
