To identify and confiscate large quantities of unapproved food supplements The auditors of the Board of Directors of the Independent Public Revenue Authority (ADE) proceeded.
The seizures were carried out after targeted and coordinated controls in a pharmacy and in a food supplement distribution business in Attica.
Overall, 4,712 pieces of preparations were seized and withdrawn from the market, while tax evasion exceeds 200,000 euros.

The seizures were carried out on the basis of a finding that the preparations concerned was deprived of the required and mandatory law of notification to the National Medicines Agency (National Medicines Agency). This infringement makes the movement and distribution of products to the consumer public illegal, as they have not been subjected to the necessary procedures for control of composition and safety, at risk of public health.
In addition, products did not bear the intended Greek markings on their label, in breach of the provisions of the Ministry of Development, with the result that the corresponding administrative fines are imposed.
For these cases, the administrative and legal procedures for imposing sanctions have already been initiated, while for the company dealing in Attica (the site and branch), criminal proceedings were formed against those responsible.
Market controls continue with unrelenting intensity to combat illegal trade in health medicinal products, as compliance with legal procedures and notification of medicinal products to the EOF are an inviolable condition for ensuring public health and protecting citizens from potentially dangerous products.
