One of the most important agreements in recent years in the Greek agri-food sector was announced with Nitsakos, the largest poultry producer in Greece, gradually passing under the control of Ukrainian MHP SE, the largest poultry producer in Europe.

The investment agreement provides for the acquisition of 70% of the Greek company by MHP in three successive phases over the next few years, while provision is made for the participation of the Ukrainian side to increase to 100% at a later stage. The completion of the first phase is subject to the approval required by the competent authorities.

The agreement marks a new era for Nitsiakos, one of the most historic operations of Greek poultry farming, based in Ioannina and a presence of over five decades in the agri-food sector. For the year ending 31 December 2025, the company recorded a consolidated turnover of around EUR 540 million.

Cooperation combines Nitsakos' strong productive base and leading position in the Greek market with the international expertise of MHP and its proven experience in developing food business in European markets. Through the investment, the Greek company is expected to strengthen its productive and operational capabilities, accelerate the development of new products and expand its presence in international markets.

At the same time, as underlined by both sides, the productive and administrative base of Nitsiakos will remain in Epirus, maintaining its connection with the local economy and society.

MHP founder and CEO, Yuriy Kosyuk, said that every time the group enters a new market its goal is not only business development but also strengthening the domestic food industry and supporting local communities. As she said, Nitsakos represents exactly the type of partner MHP seeks: a company with deep roots, strong reputation and relationships of trust with its people and producers.

On his part, Nitsakos CEO Kostas Nitsakos described the agreement as the next stage in the company's course, noting that it creates the conditions for accelerating growth, strengthening investment dynamics and expanding its international presence.

Reference point for the Greek agri-food sector

MHP's entry into Nitsiakos is considered one of the most important strategic investments in recent years in the Greek food industry. The agreement comes at a time when the European protein market seeks a larger scale, stronger capital base and access to new markets.

For Nitsiakos, the agreement creates the conditions for accelerating investment and greater extroversion. For MHP, it is an entry into the Greek market through a leading vertically integrated business with a strong imprint on poultry farming and a deep connection with the domestic agri-food sector.

For the MHP side FinPoint acted as exclusive financial advisor and Baker McKenzie as principal legal adviser. For Nitsiakos, exclusive financial advisor was Value Partners M.E.P.E. and principal legal advisor PotamitisVekris.

The agreement is expected to affect the map of the Greek poultry market and the wider agri-food sector as a whole, bringing one of the largest European food groups to the core of Greek production.
