One of the largest digital infrastructure projects implemented in recent years in Greek Land Register was completed with the transition of all its information systems to the Government Cloud (G-Cloud).

This is an intervention concerning the whole digital operation of the body, as applications, databases and critical information systems that have hitherto been operating in different technological environments were transferred to the single infrastructure of the Greek State, managed by the General Secretariat of Information Systems and Digital Governance.

Upon completion of the process, the Greek Land Register is among the first major public sector operators to have fully transferred their operation to G-Cloud, incorporating data and applications into a single environment developed and operated in different times.

The Deputy Minister of Digital Governance and Artificial Intelligence, Christos Dermentzopoulos, described the transition as an important step in strengthening the data security and reliability of the services provided.

As he said, the transfer of the Greek Land to G-Cloud creates a stronger technological basis for a critical national infrastructure, strengthening the resilience of systems and the possibility of providing more modern digital services to citizens and professionals.

Greek Land Register: What does G-Cloud mean?

The Greek Land Register is one of the most important digital infrastructure of the State, as it manages data related to real estate, real estate transfers, investments, spatial planning and the operation of a series of public services.

The transition to G-Cloud means that the set of these data and associated digital services now operates in a common infrastructure, designed to ensure greater stability, availability and security.

According to project design, technological systems and applications that have so far operated in fragmented environments are consolidated, facilitating both infrastructure management and future modernisation of services.

Greek Land Register: What changes for citizens and professionals

The new infrastructure is expected to improve the operation of digital services using daily citizens and professionals.

Lawyers, notaries, engineers and property owners are served through a series of electronic applications which are now a key tool for dealing with transactions and administrative procedures.

The operation of services in the Government Cloud is estimated to help improve response times, increase system availability and reduce risks associated with technical malfunctions or shutdowns.

At the same time, the framework for the protection of information held in the Land Register, concerning millions of property rights and natural or legal persons throughout the country, is strengthened.

The completion of the transition coincides with the final phase of implementation of the National Land Register, a project that has been evolving for decades and is considered crucial for the security of trade, the protection of property and the development of real estate.

The new digital infrastructure is expected to form the basis on which the entity's next steps will be supported, as the effort to complete land-use throughout the country is under way by the end of 2026.

Direct targets also include further reduction of unfinished business through digital tools, as well as the incorporation of special cadastral regimes into the National Land Register, with a typical example of the Dodecanese Estate.
