In a limited range, Athens Avenue proceeded with PPC's strong rise to contain the fall of the General Index.
In particular, the DG moved permanently with a negative sign and closed on its low day 2. 348,45 units with -0,91%.
The banking index corrected by -2,47% THE 2,667,78 units, the FTSE of high capitalization retreated against 1,01% THE 5,959,19 mon. and the midfield FTSEM recorded imperceptible losses 0,07% THE 3.081,23 m.
The jiros ejected in EUR 438,82 million with more than half of PPC, while 92.95m euros concerned 38 packages of which 13 were also in PPC for 43.1m (2 in Eurobank for 25.5m, 5 in Piraeus for 14m). The volume of trade, respectively, amounted to 45,75 million pieces.
In the general picture of the meeting, investors appeared to exploit international nervousness after the new exacerbation in the Middle East in order to lock some profits from the upcoming six-day period and redirect them to the – safe investment shelter as shown – PPC.
From there on, sellers focused rather on banks, given the overperformance they had since the completion of the PMC by releasing the market more widely (DTP + 10.3% at this time, against +7.2% of the DG), but with losses remaining restrained.
During the last hour of the transactions there was even an attempt to remove from their low day, "showing" probably to investors who continue looking for good entry points, however this eventually opened up more appetite to get more bid on the dashboard.
However, the main issue of the day, which largely defined the trend within and outside the border, was the resurgence of tension in the Middle East, as the US proceeded to new blows against Iran and Tehran responded by firing missiles into Kuwait.
At market level, however, the reaction to the new acidification was moderate, both in oil (small rise) and shares (limited fall) suggesting that investors continue to invoice the scenario in which a peace agreement (with Ormuz open) will arise sooner or later. However, the time at which it will eventually emerge and its content will judge a great deal about the margins that the shares will have in the near future. Of course there is also the possibility that there will be no (or late features) that would completely reconstruct the current landscape.
