Panic created a power bank on an Easy Jet flight from Egypt to London, forcing it plane make an emergency landing at her airport Rome.
According to Sky News, landing in Rome became a precaution as a passenger of the plane informed them that he was charging his power bank to the suitcase, which is not allowed during a flight.
The EZY2618 flight took off from Hurgada to Egypt on Tuesday night (19/5/2026) and was to land at Luton Airport in the early morning hours of Wednesday.
However, EasyJet reported that the flight diverted to Rome's Fiumicino Airport and was rescheduled to take place the next day, after the crew was informed that the power bank was charging a passenger's luggage.
«The governor then decided to change course as a precautionary measure, according to security regulations», stated a representative of the company. The aircraft landed safely and passengers landed properly, while we provide accommodation at a hotel and meals, where possible».
«We would like to apologise to all passengers for any inconvenience caused by the change of course and subsequent delay», reported easyjet.
