The Meta went on to one mass round of redundancies which affects 10% of its global workforce, i.e. almost 8,000 people. The strategy chosen by the company's management caused strong reactions, as employees had been notified from the previous day to work from home and eventually received the Official email of dismissal at 4 a.m., according to their local time zone.

The full text of the message sent by Meta's leadership, which secured and published Business Insider, reveals the completely corporate and formal way in which their removal was announced, as well as the details of compensation.

«As we have shared in the past, we have decided to reduce the number of our employees, as part of our ongoing effort to operate the company more effectively and compensate for the other investments we make. Unfortunately, your role has been abolished as part of today's reorganization. Before we share additional details, we want to thank you for everything you've offered Meta. We appreciate the important role you played in the company's journey and understand that you will have questions as you process this news.

From today until the Closing Date of your employment, you are in a «warning period without work». During this period, your internal access to the company's systems will be removed and you need not do any additional work for Meta. You will continue to collect paid leave (PTO) until the Closing Date, which will be paid to you on your final payroll. During the warning period, you will normally receive your salary and privileges, as well as any shares (RSUs) secured until then.

If you are already at the office, we ask you to collect your personal belongings from your office and return home.

To support you in the job search, you will also have access to three months of free external assistance through Lee Hecht Harrison (LHH). A non-signed version of the Cooperation Solution Agreement is attached in full details of your individual package. The final version for signature will be sent to your personal email later today. You have to sign the deal to get the dismissal allowance. As a full-time employee (FTE), you are entitled to basic compensation of 16 weeks, plus two extra weeks for each full year of continuous service in the company, removing the period of notice.

For visa workers in the United States, access to general immigration guidance will be granted. Through the Alumni Portal, you will be able to find the contact details of the legal firm that has taken over your case to manage relevant questions.

The long turn to Artificial Intelligence
