One of the most famous and exciting car stories in Greece was written in a dark basement in Piraeus.
For the inhabitants of Piraeus, the name of Kriton Diaveris is not unknown. Beyond the public offices which the prominent businessman of Kythera had served, had created, among other things, a brick-ceramic industry, where a 10-acre area park is currently located.
After his death, the entire estate of Kriton Delaveris passed to the Municipality of Piraeus, however, as in all cases so in it its full utilization was achieved almost four decades later.

Not only are we referring to the real estate which came into the hands of the municipality of Piraeus but also the mobile, As Kriton Delaveris was the owner of the latter Mercedes-Benz 300 SL classified in Greece in the 1960s.
The blue Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Roadster had the luck and misfortune to remain after the death of the prominent businessman in stillness. In fact, from 1974 onward, the registration plates had been filed with the IRS, with the German four-wheeler remaining immobilized in a parking lot of the Municipality of Piraeus.
So we had to reach 2011 to make all the necessary decisions and start the auction process of the car. With a starting price of 240,000 euros, Mercedes-Benz 300 SL with its only 97,172 km on its road meter could not go unnoticed.

For the record alone it is worth mentioning that eight letters of guarantee and equal offers were deposited in the Municipality of Piraeus, with the largest reaching 405,000 euros.
So maybe the Mercedes-Benz 300 SL value of Kriton Diaveris exceeded expectations, however, the rare roadster was not left in Greek hands As the winner of the auction process came out German Ryan Hildebrand, who acquired the historic car.
