Το πιο τρομακτικό σενάριο για το αμερικανικό Πεντάγωνο είναι η ικανότητα αυτών των υποβρυχίων να εξουδετερώνουν τις αμερικανικές ομάδες μάχης αεροπλανοφόρων (Carrier Strike Groups).
