Smokers in Greece are facing a dramatic increase in cigarette prices, with the package reaching from today's 4.80 euros to 6.50 euros, due to a new European tax framework. Greece is low in the European tax classification of tobacco products, with Greeks smoking on average over 18 cigarettes a day. The change will burden the average smoker with over 560 euros per year, raising the annual cost from 1,500 to 2,150 euros. At the same time, there is concern about strengthening the illegal trade in cigarettes.

DENZA, the premium brand of BYD, made its European debut with an event at the Paris Palais Garnier, presenting two models: Z9GT and D9 DM-i. The Z9GT is a shooting brake with three electric engines that accelerates 0-100 km/h in 2.7 seconds, while the D9 DM-i is a seven-seat MPV with an autonomy of up to 950 km. Both support FLASH Charging technology that charges from 10% to 70% in 5 minutes. The brand will initially be launched in Germany, France, Italy, Spain and the United Kingdom, with the aim of covering 30 countries, including Greece, by the end of 2026.

The FVO decided to withdraw lot 111572333 of infant milk ALMIRON PROFUTURA 1 with an expiry date of 5/11/2027. The decision was taken following an update by NUMIL HELLAS SA, as laboratory analysis showed that the permissible limit of cereulide toxin established by the European Food Assessment Agency has been exceeded. Consumers are asked not to use the product and return it to the market point for replacement. The withdrawal shall extend to the level of the consumer.

Market Pass: Earlier applications – Who are the beneficiaries and what applies to retrospectives up to 1,200 euros

The new Market Pass returns in an improved form, providing support to around 210,000 households beneficiaries of the Minimum Guaranteed Income. With a budget of EUR 400 million, the aid will be granted through a digital or printed voucher for purchases of food and emergency items. The basic monthly aid shall start at EUR 40 and shall be retroactively up to EUR 1,200 for 30 months. Minister Domna Michailidou announced that payments would begin earlier than originally planned September, probably in the summer, with the first installment including the retroactive amounts.
