According to the relevant announcement, the decision of the commander of AADE, George Pitsilis, was made with the aim of facilitating taxpayers and completing the process smoothly.

Such requests had been made by the Economic Chamber of Greece, the ATFEE and other professional bodies.
The extension announced by AADE on Friday night, July 10th, and by that time almost 6.2 million initial declarations of the income tax of natural persons and about 300,000 declarations of the income tax of legal persons had already been submitted.
The tax administration considers that the period to the new deadline is sufficient for the smooth completion of the reporting process.

«In order to facilitate taxpayers and to ensure the smooth completion of the procedure for the submission of tax returns, taking into account the relevant requests submitted by the Economic Chamber of Greece, the EPOEE and other bodies, by decision of the Governor of AADE, George Pitsilis, submission deadline the income tax returns of natural and legal persons tax year 2025 shall be transferred to Friday 24, July 2026 at 23:59:59.
In view of the fact that nearly 6,200,000 initial income tax declarations and 300,000 legal persons tax returns have so far been submitted, the remaining time is sufficient for the proper completion of the reporting process», reports the AADE announcement.
