The Koenigsegg presented in Monterey, California CCGT1, new hypercar, paying tribute to a racer who never managed to run: The CCGT.

The latter was built in 2007 in order to run in the GT1 category. It had a V8 engine of 600 horsepower and a weight of around one ton. However, two months before the first race, FIA changed the GT1 class regulations and finally the CCGT never had a chance to prove its value on the tracks.

Back to present, and Koenigsegg CCGT1. This is based on his platform CC850 and has evidence referring to the race of the past.

The engine is V8 with two turbos, and yields 1,280 horses with simple station gasoline, and 1.600 with bioethanol E85The car’s brain has a system that can self-regulate, in case these two fuels are mixed in the tank.

Advanced for use on track, Koenigsegg CCGT1 has an oil cooler, but also a refrigerator for the fluid released in the posts, which is unprecedented and shows attention to the detail of the Swedes.

The gearbox is an automatic nine-relationship, which has a regular clutch pedal for startups. A selector named aptly ASMR (Auto, Sequental, Manual, Reverse) changes settings, while for those who want it, the model is also offered with a six-speed manual transmission.

Externally, the only ones remaining in common with CC850 are the doors and removable roof cover. The redesigned body produces 800 kg of lifting at 250 km/h, while the rear aerometry, the largest ever fitted to its model Koenigsegg, refers to that of the 2007 racetrack. It automatically adjusts to 30 positions, and rises upwards when the driver falls hard on the brakes, enhancing braking capacity.

This is complemented with a large front splitter and actively adjustable flaps at the bottom of the body.

The exterior of Koenigsegg CCGT1 is made of a mixture of white aramide (Kevlar) and carbon fibers, which the company calls Ghost Fibre, and is so powerful that it also offers bulletproof protection. It also has improved sound insulation and particularly low weight.

In the cockpit of Swedish hypercar things are «combat», after finding air-type switches to activate ignition and operate the fuel pump. The instruments are proportional and include a G meter.

The most impressive element, and what does the Koenigsegg CCGT1 to really stand out from the other hypercars of today, is the racing package offered by the company, which can be placed but also removed from any brand representative worldwide.

This includes anthrax roll case, HANS-compatible racing seats, firefighting system, air-operated crickets and lift the car in seconds, racing exhaust, suspensions and brakes advanced for track, second set of wheels with racing tires, and extra aerodynamic package. All of this is accompanied by an invitation to track days exclusively for CCGT1, and a full factory support team.

The Koenigsegg CCGT1 will be manufactured exclusively in 70 copies. Orders have already been filled before the official presentation of the model can be made.
