Kyriakos Mitsotakis uses two armored SUVs: a BMW X5 Security Plus with a V8 450 horsepower and a Land Rover Range Rover Sentinel. He refused to receive the armoured BMW 760Li acquired in 2011 for 1.5m euros. Instead, Trump is driven to Cadillac One «The Beast», moving bunker over $1.5 million, while Putin in Russian Aurus Senat. Macron chose the first 100% electric presidential vehicle, DS N°8, while Murch uses Mercedes S 680 Guard. Shi Jinping moves with the luxury Hongqi L5 worth $900,000.

Analyticalally:

A leader's car is a moving fortress, political statement and once even a national symbol. From Athens to Beijing and from Moscow to Washington, each country captures its priorities through it.

In Greece, Kyriakos Mitsotakis has chosen a simple but extremely functional approach to protection. In his daily movements he alternately uses two armored SUVs: a black BMW X5 of the F15 generation in the Security Plus version, and a Land Rover Range Rover L405 in the Sentinel version. Both have armor certification, which we know but for obvious reasons we will not report. They have, reinforced frame, multilayer bulletproof crystals, special run-flat tires that allow continued movement even after an attack, as well as cabin sealing system in emergency situations.

BMW X5 Security Plus moves from a 450 horsepower V8 petrol engine and 650 Nm torque. Despite the weight exceeding 3.3 tons due to the shielding, it accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h to about 6 seconds, it has a four-drive xDrive with special adjustment for stability in escape manoeuvres, while the brakes and suspension have been upgraded accordingly to cope with increased weight. Range Rover Sentinel, on the other hand, is equipped with a V8 5.0 litre of 510 horsepower, permanent four-wheel drive and heavy-duty air suspension, maintaining a high level of comfort alongside off-road traffic capacity.

It is worth noting that Mitsotakis himself refused on the Prime Minister's undertaking to receive the two armored BMW 760Li High Security acquired by Prime Minister Papandreou in 2011 against 1.5m euros in total — or EUR 750,000 each. Those cars withstand bullets, grenades and explosive devices, while a single visit to the workshop could cost more than 25,000 euros. Mitsotakis, known as a car enthusiast, has repeatedly climbed into test cars especially on visits to car exhibitions, and has also been on tour with Tesla Model 3.

The «Beast» of America
In contrast to Greek discretion lies the American Cadillac One, known worldwide as «The Beast». Donald Trump, who uses it in his second term, sits back in a moving bonker. The vehicle is based on a heavy-duty truck frame, carries armored military specifications, doors with equivalent Boeing plane weight, fuel tank resistant to explosions, autonomous oxygen supply system and the President's own blood warehouse for immediate transfusions in an emergency. Total construction costs are estimated at more than $1.5 million per unit.

Russia builds its own
Vladimir Putin is driven to Aurus Senat Limousine, the first purely Russian design presidential vehicle after the Soviet era. Aurus is a national venture launched by order of the Kremlin and presented in 2018, sending a clear message of self-sufficiency. Under the imposing hood is a hybrid ensemble combining V8 4.4 liters with an electric motor, yielding over 600 horsepower, while the cabin has an autonomous oxygen supply system. The official price ranges around $300,000, but publications used by the Kremlin are assumed to exceed that amount by far.

France chooses national industry and electricity
Emanuel Macron has made a conscious choice to drive exclusively to French brands. At his inauguration in 2017 he used DS 7 Crossback Élysée, an elongated 20 cm long armored version of the plug-in hybrid SUV with 300 horsepower and four-wheel drive. For daily movements an armored Peugeot 5008, while in large national ceremonies Renault Rafale also appears. In 2025, Macron became the world's first president of democracy to acquire 100% electric official car: the Presidential DS N°8 with 750 km autonomy. This tradition begins with Charles de Gaulle, who used DS already in 1958 — the same car in which he survived an assassination attempt in 1962 in Pti Clamar.

Germany, German cars
German chancellor Friedrich Murch moves with Mercedes S 680 Guard, an externally almost indiscriminate luxury berolinette hiding under its armored military quality. Logic is reversed by that of Cadillac One: instead of showing power, invisible protection. The S 680 Guard looks like any other Mercedes, but can withstand rockets and explosions. Germany also maintains the principle of national industry with regard to vehicles of power.

China: Hongqi as National Symbolism · Global Voices
Shi Jinping appears in official ceremonies with Hongqi L5, a classic limousine with design references to the Soviet era and retro aesthetics that deliberately refers to the history of the Chinese state. Under the huge hood is located V8 6.0 liters with a power of about 400 horsepower. The full technical features of the armor remain a state secret, but its value is estimated at $900,000, making it one of the most expensive official state vehicles in the world. Hongqi is not just a means of transport — is the Chinese response to the western car industry.

India: Sentinel for Monty
Narendra Monty moves with Range Rover Sentinel, the same model Mitsotakis uses, but in an earlier version based on Range Rover Autobiography. Level B7 armor withstands 7.62 mm missiles and grenade blasts, while V8 5.0 liters yield 380 horsepower to move the vehicle despite the weight exceeding 4 tons. Its value is estimated at $500,000.

Italy: Alpha Romeo in Meloni
Italian Prime Minister Georgia Meloni has appeared in official movements with Alfa Romeo Giulia — a choice that strengthens the national industry but does not follow the logic of heavy armor chosen by larger leaders. With a 2.0 turbo engine of about 280 horses and an acceleration of 0-100 to 5.7 seconds, Giulia represents a European school of thought that promotes functionality against demonstration.

From the moving bencher of Washington to Rome's armored Alfa Romeo and the two quiet SUVs circulating on the streets of Athens, the leaders' cars tell stories that are not recorded in any official announcement. They reflect the way each country perceives power, shielding and — sometimes — And humility.
