International analysts and factors on the Greek market, however, estimate that as long as smooth shipping in the region is not restored and transport remains limited, crude oil will continue to negotiate at high levels.

At the heights remain the fuel prices in the Greek market, with unleaded and diesel traffic over 2 euros per litre in dozens of prefectures of the country, burdening the cost of movements amid the increased traffic of August.

In particular, the new rise in international oil prices boosts pump pressures, as Brent now moves over $91 a barrel. At the same time, expectations of a direct diplomatic deescalation of the Middle East crisis remain limited, maintaining uncertainty in international energy markets.

Meanwhile, in international markets, Brent was strengthened on Tuesday by 62 cents, at $91.49 a barrel, recording its highest level since July 30, 2025. Rise and move the American WTI, which won 75 cents and was formed to $85.25 a barrel.

The causes

An important factor in the rise in prices is difficulties in transporting oil and gas from the Middle East, with special emphasis on navigation through the Straits of Hormuz. The limited movement of tankers and uncertainty surrounding the safety of maritime transport reinforces concerns about the smooth supply of the international market.

International analysts and factors on the Greek market, however, estimate that As long as smooth shipping in the region is not restored and transport remains limited, crude oil will continue to negotiate at high levels. Since the international rally continues, the pressure on retail prices is expected to increase over the next few days, with the final picture also affected by the euro-dollar parity, but also by the time needed for international changes to the Greek market.

Over 2 euros unleaded

However, the An increase in international prices has already been reflected in station prices. According to data from the Liquid Fuel Price Observatory, on 17 August the average price of unleaded 95 octane was €1.998 per litre, while one day later, on 18 August, it passed the 2 euros threshold, reaching €2,002.

The 100 octane unleaded, from 2,248 to 2,250 euros per litre, was also moved up., while diesel traffic increased from 1.989 to 1.996 euros per litre. The average value of LPG traffic remained stable at 0,957 euros.

This picture illustrates the pressure on the market, with dealers being cautious about price trends, as no one can safely predict the development of the international rally. In the event of a new rise in the slow, the increases in the pump are expected to gradually pass to the Greek market.

«Champions» the Cyclades

The higher values are recorded in tourist areas, with islanders at the top of accuracy. On Cyclades, the average price of unleaded reached 2,251 euros per litre, while the diesel was formed at 2,235 euros.

The following are the following: Dodecanese, where unleaded was set at 2,129 euros and diesel at 2,085 euros per litre. In Lesvos the corresponding prices amounted to 2,090 and 2,087 euros, while in Kefalonia they amounted to 2,083 and 2,081 euros.

High prices were also recorded in Eurytania, The Corfu, The Lasithi, The Evia, The Magnesium; The Focal and Halkidiki.

In total, Aetoloakarnania, Arcadia, Grevena, Evia, Eurytania, Zakynthos, Heraklion, Thesprotia, Ioannina, Kavala, Karditsa, Corfu, Kefalonia, Lasithi, Laconia, Lefkada, Magnesia, Messinia, Xanthi, Rethymno, Samos, Trikala, Fthiotida, Fokida, Halkidiki, Chania and Chios, was over 2 euros per litre.

Similarly, diesel traffic is sold over 2 euros per litre in 25 prefectures, with the highest average price recorded in Lesvos, at 2,087 euros.

Interventions prevented increases

However, the intervention applied to the market contributed to the effort to reduce consumer charges. The discounts of the refineries, totalling EUR 40 million, for the period from 14 July to 31 August, as well as the State subsidy on diesel diesel by 10 minutes per litre of more VAT by the end of August, operated as a mound in increases.

However, the international conjunction limits de-escalation margins. If Brent continues on its way up and remains at high levels, the Greek fuel market will face new pressures, at a time when movements peak and the cost of summer routes becomes increasingly heavy for households.
