The video that has recorded Berhan Simsek hitting his wife Ozlem Sanver has caused a stir in Turkey and the media have been showing it incessantly in the last few hours.
In the video, CHP vice president (Republican People's Party) seems to kick his wife, Ozlem Sanver on the porch, and then drag her into their home.
Material was published following the complaint lodged in April 2026 by Sanver, in which she denounces physical and psychological violence, insults and threats. The material shows Berhan Simsek getting up and kicking his wife, with whom he is married 10 years, in the leg, as he sits next to him.
Screaming out of pain, Sanver shouted: «Leave me alone!» Simsek was then seen to force his wife into the house, while she struggled to escape his hands.
Sanver filed an injunction and received a restraining order against Simsek, which she was reported to have been attacked. Sanver had accused her husband of assault, insult, threats, of preventing her from leaving the house and exerting pressure through political influence.
