As the Agrotype had already said, in the context of the European Union agri-food promotion policy and under the umbrella of the trade mark «Enjoy, it’s from Europe», the European Commission, through the European Research Executive Agency (REA), had announced the opening of two calls for proposals for 2026.

The two invitations concern the so-called «simple» programmes involving one or more organisations from the same Member State, and «multinationals» programmes (multi programmes), involving bodies from at least two Member States or European organisations.

The invitations were officially opened today, 22 January 2026 and will remain open for a period of three months, i.e. until 23 April. In total, in the context of these two key calls, 13 individual funding programmes are available, 7 of which concern simple programmes and 6 multinationals, covering different thematic and geographical targets.

How applications are submitted – key steps for stakeholders

The application procedure for agri-food promotion programmes follows specific stages, which apply to all open invitations in 2026.

Step 1: Select the appropriate call

The bodies concerned are invited to identify the call that responds to the object and targeting of their promotional action. The invitations are distinguished from «simple» (simple) and «multinationals» (multi) programmes, depending on the composition of the partners and the geographical scope of the action. All available invitations, individual themes, relevant documents and timetables shall be published on the official European funding platform.

Step 2: Submission

Proposals are submitted exclusively electronically through the European Funding & Tenders platform. The bodies concerned must set up an account, select the appropriate invitation and complete the forms provided for in the deadline.

Step 3: Assessment of proposals

After the deadline, proposals shall be evaluated by independent experts on the basis of pre-defined criteria.
For multinational programmes (multi), the evaluation and selection process is implemented at European level.
For simple programmes (simple), candidates shall be informed of the results through the competent national authorities of the Member State in which they are based.

The evaluation may last up to six months, with candidates usually informed towards the end of the year.

Step 4: Signature of an agreement and implementation

Following the selection of the proposals, the signing of the financing agreement setting out the objectives of the action, its duration, budget and European contribution shall follow. In multinational programmes the agreement is signed at European level, while in simple programmes the process is completed through national authorities.

Who can apply – basic conditions for participation

The possibility of participation in agri-food promotion programmes is determined by specific conditions which vary according to whether they are simple or multinational (multi) programmes.

General conditions

Only bodies established in a Member State of the European Union shall, as a rule, have the right to submit a proposal. The body submitting the proposal shall have the necessary technical, economic and professional competence to effectively implement the promotional campaign.

Conditions of eligibility vary according to the type of programme

Simple and multinational programmes – key differences

Simple (simple) programs can be submitted by one or more operators coming from the same Member State.
Simple programmes are managed nationally by the competent authorities of each country.

Multinational (multi) programmes may be submitted:

at least two bodies from at least two different Member States;

or one or more European organisations.
Multinational programmes are managed at European level.

Eligible bodies

Organisations which may apply include:
