The controversial, far-right influencer Andrew Tate presents himself as «extremely rich», but he was not the owner of cars and yachts that appeared on social networks as his own and overstated his lifestyle to attract attention to the Internet, according to its legal representatives.

Although he calls himself a billionaire, with expensive cars, private jets and super yacht worth $50 million and cryptocurrency, no evidence was found to support these claims, BBC reports.

Cars, for example, including an Aston Martin and a Bugatti which appeared on social networks, were rented.

Tate and his brother Tristan are being held in a Florida prison, but seek their release on bail, while awaiting the outcome of the extradition process.

They were arrested in July, after the British prosecutors filed new charges against them, including sexual offences, which both deny. They now face a total of 59 charges related to offences allegedly committed between July 2010 and August 2017.

Brothers have dual citizenship, British and American.

Prosecutors argued that the Tates are likely to escape, citing earlier statements by the brothers about their wealth and influence, as well as the fact that they have multiple identities to avoid Justice.

In a legal memo to the court, legal representatives of the brothers reported that the Tate business model «based on the attention they focus on the Internet».

«The issue is precisely the challenging character of their posts and posts concerning themselves. The more excessive and outrageous the suspension is, the more likely it is collect views and likes, which in turn generates revenue. In short, they play a role», cited in the memo.

At times, Andrew Tate has used excesses for «comic result», without any intention of being taken seriously, legal people still support it.
