Tomorrow (30.06.2026) the deadline for the procedure expires inventory all lifts of the country in a digital lift inventory register, no further extension is planned.
With the census, the Ministry of Development, through the General Secretariat of Industry, seeks to form for the first time a full and reliable image for lifts established in the country, with a view to developing the best policies for targeted supervision, risk prevention and continuous strengthening of their safe operation.
The process is done electronically and free of charge, through the platform elevator. mindev.gov.gr, Taxisnet codes, and concerns all lifts, regardless of the use of the building, the status of certification or any prior registration in another register.
After the deadline has expired, the inventory number will be key technical identification element the lift and should be indicated in the maintenance documentation.
Follow ten useful questions and answers for those who need to know owners, administrators and industry professionals for the lift inventory.
Useful questions – answers for lift inventory:
1. What elevators does the inventory concern?
The inventory shall cover all lifts, without exception and specific lifts in:
- Multi-dwelling
- Houses
- Offices
- Hotels
- Supermarket
- Commercial centres
- Professional facilities
- Mixed uses, i.e. buildings with both residential and business premises
The census must be done even if the lift has already been certified or previously declared in another register.
2. Until when does the inventory have to be done?
The deadline shall expire on 30 June 2026 and after that date, the census shall not be considered to be in due course.
3. Will another extension be granted?
Nope. The legislation provided for an extension only once, and this has already been granted, so there is no legal margin for a new extension. Those who have not completed the inventory must do so immediately.
4. Where's the inventory done and how much is it worth?
The inventory shall be made electronically on the platform: elevator. mindev.gov.gr
The process is done with Taxisnet codes, it is simple, it takes a few minutes and is completely free, while there is no fee or cost for inventory.
5. Is temporary storage enough?
Nope. Temporary storage is not a final inventory, to be considered as having been registered, a final submission must be made within the platform.
Today there are about 7,500 temporarily stored declarations which have not been finalised. If they are not completed by 30 June, they risk being considered late.
For this reason, those who have initiated the process must reconnect to the platform and confirm that the census has been completed permanently.
The safest way for the registrant to ensure that the inventory has been successfully completed is to have issued and opened the PDF file concerned that includes the unique identification number (UUUID) of the inventory. If this PDF has not been issued or there is any doubt, it is recommended that the statement be immediately checked on the platform before the deadline has expired.
6. Who can do the inventory?
The census can be done by the owner, administrator or legal representative of the building.
If one is having difficulty, one can contact the maintainer or the elevator installer. Professionals in the industry can help effectively to complete the inventory properly and in time.
7. What if the elevator isn't recorded by June 30th?
After 1 July, unrecorded lifts will be able to be recorded only after payment of the fine provided for, under a procedure provided for through the platform.
Fines for owners, administrators or legal representatives shall be per lift:
- EUR 1,000 for residential buildings
- EUR 2,500 for buildings with professional or mixed use
- EUR 5,000 for buildings accessible by the general public
8. Will an elevator not recorded be maintained?
Not legally, as after the deadline, the inventory number will be a key element of technical identification of the lift.
