Market players link price increases to the Middle East crisis and high energy costs.

More expensive than last year, this year's format is formed. Easter table, with valuations affecting almost all basic products. Market factors link price increases with the Middle East crisis and high energy costs, which, as noted, are also used as a key justification for the new wave of price increases.

According to the official price reports of the Central Markets and Fisheries Agency, which reflect wholesale meat prices, domestic lambs record the highest rise, with the price rising from 9.50 euros per kilo to 12.00 euros, increasing by 26.3%. Similar is the image of the goats, which follow the same course, while there is a marginal decrease in goats, with the price slightly falling from 6,50 to 6,40 euros per kilo.

In the retail market, prices for lambs move between EUR 15 and EUR 19 per kilo. The products included in «Easter basket» supermarkets are also sold more expensive than last year, while in local butchers prices remain traditionally higher, with the difference reaching 4 to 5 euros per kilo in several cases.

The increase is attributed to a set of factors, such as reduced meat production, increased costs of rearing and feeding, but also the gradual abandonment of livestock production, which reduces supply. At the same time, zoonoses, livestock losses, the lack of adequate local slaughterhouses and increased demand from abroad increase market pressure, with costs eventually passed on to the consumer.

Estimates are also recorded in a range of fruits and vegetables, according to the same elements of the OCAA. In vegetables, increases in relation to Easter 2025 are noted in cabbage by 28.6%, pumpkins by 20% and leeks by 25%, while smaller reverences are recorded in carrots and garlic. Important is the rise in red long peppers by about 44%, while sweet long peppers record an even greater increase, reaching up to 94% compared to the low last year base.
