From 1 October and small enterprises with an annual turnover of up to EUR 1 million should issue electronic invoices.

The compulsory electronic billing concerns all transactions between companies in Greece, as well as sales of goods and services to undertakings established in third countries outside the European Union.

On the contrary, for trade with EU Member States' companies. the use of an electronic invoice remains optional at present. Where the foreign customer cannot or does not wish to receive an electronic invoice, the possibility of transmitting the document in an alternative shall be provided in accordance with the procedures in force.

Electronic invoices

Small businesses should issue all invoices exclusively digitally through a provider or through the free Timologio and myDATAapp applications of AADE.

Non-issue of an electronic invoice shall be treated as a non-issue of an invoice with fines up to EUR 2,500 per infringement

Each transaction will be transmitted automatically and in real time with the ADA's myDATA, while a transitional period is foreseen by the end of December for a smooth adaptation of operations to the new regime.

In particular, the company selects a modern billing program (ERP) and a certified provider or its free Timologio and myDATAapp applications.

It should then be stated whether the undertaking uses a provider (HYPS) or the Timologio application. The selection of the timologio application also covers the myDATAapp option of AADE.

The documents shall be issued electronically and transmitted automatically to the myDATA platform to receive the mandatory Unique Registration Number (Mark).

Fines

The non-issue of an electronic invoice shall be treated as a non-issue of an invoice with fines of up to EUR 2,500 per infringement or control, depending on the accounting system of the undertaking and the type of transaction.
