The Kia confirmed that by 2027 he will launch correspondent in Europe a new small electric car, as part of its effort to significantly increase its sales to BEV.
The new model will be a city-car placed below Kia EV2 and will probably be the electric replace Kia Picanto. There is even the possibility of being named EV1, following the logic of naming the company.
It will be based on the platform E-GMP of 400V and is expected to be offered with two battery options, about 42 kWh and 61 kWh. This translates into autonomy that will start near 320 km and it will reach about 480 km in most efficient publications.
Picanto will be replaced by a new electric city-car.
The Kia aims to make it its most affordable electric model, with a starting price close to EUR 23,000–25,000, to compete with models such as Renault 5 Electric, Peugeot e-208 and Opel Corsa Electric.
At the same time, the Korean company is preparing a new one. Family SUV the 2029 and will be a high-selling model. Its goal will be the buyers who today choose hybrid or plug-in hybrid versions The Sportage, but also to those who look at models such as EV5.

The company acknowledges that the demand for electric vehicles has slowed down and emphasises the reduction in costs and improvement of charging infrastructure, to make electrification more accessible to a larger audience.
Despite the emphasis on EVs, Kia will continue to invest in both petrol engines and hybrid systems, adapting its strategy according to the needs of each market. Its aim is until the end of the decade to make up about the 2/3 of its sales in Europe.
