A serious case of threats to their lives is reported by the employees in the DYPA through the Federation of OAED Employees.
A cause for intense protest stood an incident in which an unemployed citizen launched direct threats against workers, saying: «I'll come with the shotgun and leave orphaned children.».
The reason for the outbreak was the failure to receive the prepaid card and the consequent failure to pay the unemployment allowance, despite the fact that the employees of the service had normally completed all the administrative procedures envisaged.
Workers are talking about work under terror, calling for immediate protection measures and demanding the complete abolition of the problem system of the prepaid card.
It is not an isolated event
The Federation points out in its communication that this event is not an isolated event, but part of a general situation, as DYPA employees are daily faced with aggressive behaviour due to systemic malfunctions caused by the application of the prepaid card.
«We had warned in time from the first moment the bill was deposited in the House. The prepaid card creates serious problems for the unemployed and risks to workers, who are called upon to manage the indignation of citizens without bearing any responsibility», points out the Federation.

At the same time, trade unionists turn against the DYPA Administration and the Ministry of Labour, accusing them of attempting to «fly the ball» responsibility to banks and the ELTAs, instead of recognising the structural errors of design.
As they point out, employees cannot be converted into «boxing bag» for government choices and decisions that they did not make themselves.
The 5 main demands of workers in the DYPA
In order to ensure the physical integrity of staff, the Federation shall make the following irrevocable requests:
- Direct intervention the IMIPA Administration for this particular threat incident.
- Take immediate protective measures and safety of service workers.
- Termination of responsibilities to third parties (ELTA, banks).
- Direct treatment of technical problems which afflict the beneficiaries of the unemployed.
- Full abolition of prepaid card and a comprehensive review of the payment system.

«I'll come with the shotgun and leave orphaned children.» An unemployed citizen threatened DYPA workers because he has not received the prepaid card and therefore has not received his unemployment benefit, although the Agency employees have normally completed all the procedures envisaged.
This is an extremely serious incident, which cannot and must not be treated as an isolated event. This is not the first time that DYPA workers have faced threatening and aggressive behaviors because of problems created with the prepaid card.
As a Federation we had warned in time. Since the first time the relevant legislation was submitted to the House, we had pointed out that the application of the prepaid card poses serious problems for the unemployed, but also risks to the employees of the IPPA, who are asked daily to manage the indignation of citizens without having the responsibility for the system's malfunctions.
Unfortunately, we are confirmed.
The DYPA Administration and the Ministry of Labour must assume their responsibilities immediately and proceed to the necessary changes.
They have no right to «fly the ball» The banks and the ELTAs. The problem is not solved by shifting responsibility. The cause of the problems lies in the design, regulation and implementation of the prepaid card itself.
DYPA employees cannot be converted into «boxing bag» about the malfunctions of a system that they did not plan and decide themselves.
The protection of the physical integrity and safety of workers is an obvious obligation of the Administration.

Δεν θα επιτρέψουμε να κινδυνεύουν εργαζόμενοι επειδή η Διοίκηση και το Υπουργείο αρνούνται να αναγνωρίσουν και να διορθώσουν ένα προβληματικό σύστημα.
Η ασφάλεια των εργαζομένων είναι αδιαπραγμάτευτη».
