First Sunday tomorrow (19.7.2026) of summer discounts and commercial Shops will be open, with commercial companies expecting increased tourism traffic to boost their sales in a period considered decisive for the fund they will make at the end of the year.

The operation of stores is optional, on that day, in accordance with the current legislative framework and the proposed hours for summer discounts are from 11.00 to 20.00. However, operating hours are formed by local trade associations and businesses themselves.

Thus, most small and medium-sized shops are expected to serve the public by 18.00 while department stores, malls and large trade chains are expected to remain open by 20.00.

According to market factors the first days of summer discounts record over time increased traffic in stores, while the first Sunday of the discount period is an additional opportunity for entrepreneurs to attract consumers.

Professionals point out, however, that tomorrow's commercial traffic will depend significantly on both tourist traffic and weather conditions.. The high temperatures envisaged may limit turnout during the mid-day hours, with the market considering that greater mobility will be recorded in the morning and late afternoon.

Expectations remain cautiously optimistic, as the peak of the tourist season is expected to boost traffic in commercial markets of Athens, Piraeus, Thessaloniki, but also popular island and continental destinations. According to the commercial world estimates, the total turnover of this year's summer discounts can be more than €7 billion with an increase of up to 5% compared to the corresponding period last year.

On the occasion of the discount period, the Greek Confederation of Trade and Entrepreneurship (CSR) reminds companies that the earlier price of the product, i.e. the lowest price applied in the 30 days prior to the first application of the discount, must also be indicated in any notice of reduction. The price reduction may be presented either as a discount rate or as a specific amount, either by listing the new and earlier values or the deleted old values, in accordance with the applicable Code of Conduct.
